Concussion: An Evidence-Based Course for Maximal Results – August 22nd & 23rd, 2020: Pittsburgh, PA

Concussion: An Evidence-Based Course for Maximal Results

Each year, millions of children, adults and seniors sustain concussion. When this occurs, it is not uncommon to develop headaches, changes in mood, visual and cognitive changes, fatigue, migraine/headaches, cervical pain, and vestibular dysfunction. The purpose of this course is to prepare practitioners with the tools to improve quality of care and have clinical guidelines and treatment algorithms to return the patient safely back to sport, home, or work. Current evidence supports multi-modal approach using clinical trajectories. This two day course will review the history, physiological, and recent advances in the diagnosis and management. For each clinical trajectory, a comprehensive assessment with validated objective test will be implemented to get the practitioner comfortable with administration and rehabilitation as needed. Course participants will use vestibular, visual, cervical and exertional rehabilitation strategies to treat concussion injuries effectively to insure recurrent symptomology does not return.

Audience: This course is appropriate for physical therapists/assistants, occupational therapists/assistance, athletic trainers, MD/DO, FNP/APN, PA-C.

Instruction Method: This will be a lecture and lab.

Course Schedule: The course will start promptly at 8:00 AM on both days and end on Sunday at 3:30 PM.
